At the Oxford Pram Centre we have an exceptional range of prams and pushchairs which our expert team have chosen from the collections of the best brands on the market. These include UPPAbaby, Bugaboo, Babystyle, Emmaljunga, iCandy, Joolz, Out n About, Silver Cross, BabyStyle, Phil & Teds, Baby Jogger and many more. There are now so many excellent models to choose from that finding the perfect pram or stroller for you and your family can feel like an overwhelming task. However, at the Oxford Pram Centre, we can provide the guidance you need to make the right choice.
So should you choose a lightweight stroller, a travel system or an all-terrain model? Is the stroller you have fallen in love with really the most practical option for you and is there something that will suit your taste as well as your lifestyle? Here are the factors to consider before you take the plunge:
Longevity - babies under 6 months of age require a model which reclines fully but not all of these will be suitable for when your child is older. If you don't want the expense of a second purchase then look at styles which can accommodate babies and toddlers safely. These may represent a greater initial investment but could save you money in the longer term.
Your Home - you should focus on models which fit through your door and which you have the space to store away. If you have a narrow hallway or tight corridors ensure that you choose a style which you can manoeuvre easily. If you must negotiate steps to reach your home something light will be more practical.
Travelling - drivers may benefit from a travel system as these accommodate your car seat. A travel system will minimise the number of times you will have to wake your child to get them in and out of the car. Be sure to choose an appropriate model for the age of your child. Babies up to 9kg in weight must travel in a rear facing car seat. If you use public transport then a quick folding lightweight model would be a great choice.
Which way to face - would you prefer your child to face you so you can interact with them or would you like them to see more of the world around them? Some models can be adjusted to face either way, others cannot. They are either rear facing - baby looks at the back of the back seat, or forward facing - view of the parents in the front seats.
Storage - are you likely to be out and about a lot and do you love to shop until you drop? If so then choose a pram or pushchair with enough storage room to carry everything you need and all those purchases!
Who's pushing? - it is crucial that the pushchair handles are the correct height for you or that they are adjustable. This is especially important if more than one person will be pushing your child and those people are of dramatically different heights!
Life outdoors - if you spend time walking out of town or have rough paths in your area then look at models which perform well on a variety of surfaces and have good suspension and large wheels. All terrain buggies have three wheels and are particularly suitable for the active lifestyle or for dealing with poor paving. However, these styles tend to be sizeable and so are a poor choice if you use public transport.
Colour - maybe colour is important to you or you are trying to coordinate your equipment? If so then you will find that some prams, pushchairs and strollers are available in several different colours. Settling on a particular colour, however, could mean that your choice is not in stock and must be ordered for you and so could take weeks to arrive.
There is much to consider but you can be assured that the Oxford Pram Centre range will feature the perfect pram, stroller or pushchair for you and that our friendly team are always on hand to help you find it!
